Privacy
Updated 7 October 2026StarLens shows the night sky over your camera picture. It is built to work without collecting anything about you.
What stays on your phone
- Camera. The picture is shown on screen only. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- Location. Used on the device to work out which stars are above you. A rounded copy (about 100 m) is kept in your browser's local storage so the sky is right on the next start. It is never sent to us.
- Motion and compass. Used on the device to know where the phone points. Never stored or sent.
- Settings (language, display options, alignment) are kept in local storage on your device.
What we do not do
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies. The iPhone app collects no data.
Third parties
The web app is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and time) to run and protect the service. The web font Pretendard is loaded from jsDelivr. Neither receives your location, camera or motion data.
Deleting your data
Clear this site's data in your browser settings, or delete the app. That removes everything StarLens kept.
